Call for Papers
Track 1: Biomedical Robotics and Bio-mechatronics for Rehabilitation and Health Technology
Organizer: Assoc. Prof. Adel Al-Jummaly (Univ. of Technology Sydney, Australia) Adel.Al-Jumaily@uts.edu.au
Abstract: A great challenge in biomedical engineering is to non-invasively REHABILITAT the physical changes occurring in different organs of the human body. REHABILITATION and Health technology are entering a new exciting era. A wide range of new technologies is increasingly being integrated into clinical practice, enhancing the potentiality of therapists and rehabilitate, diagnose and generate knowledge. The theme of this Special Session is "A Perspective on Current Applications and Future Challenges in Soft Robotics for Health Technology". The Special Session will provide a unique opportunity to present a most recent research results to a critical mass of researchers working in bio-robotics and bio-mechatronics, in REHABILITATION and Health technology. This session will cover assessing biomechanical and motor control deficits and other functional disorders, control signal for interfacing with orthotic and/or prosthetic devices or other rehabilitation assists, computational intelligence fields for Bio-Mechatronic Systems, Health Technology. Part of this area is bio-signal processing, bio-driven systems, Human machine/ robot interaction in health care applications and rehabilitation.
You are invited to submit Original articles in basic and applied research of this emerging area or Critical reviews, surveys, opinions, and commentaries.
Topics covered include, but are not limited to:
-New Bio-Mechatronic rehabilitation Systems for after Stroke, Spinal Cord Injury, Cerebral Palsy and Parkinson´s Disease.
-Current and future applications of Robotics, Neuroprosthetics, BCI and Virtual and Augmented Reality.
-New tools for the diagnosis and modeling of neuromotor disabilities.
-Mechanical fundamentals for soft robotics
-Modeling and simulation of soft bodies
-Soft actuators and deformable sensors
-Physical human robot interaction
-Soft design and control in biological systems.
-Fast rehabilitation recovery with biofeedback
-Development of prototypes of hybrid orthoses / exoskeletons
-Applications of functional electrical stimulation (FES) in rehabilitation
